C-store chain supports veterans with franchise giveaway contest

DALLAS — Veterans meeting the qualifications can enter the contest through Jan. 25, 2015.

DALLAS — As part of its Veterans Day celebration, 7-Eleven Inc. launched Operation: Take Command, a franchise giveaway program to support veterans, according to a press release.

The winner will receive a waiver of the franchise fee, valued at up to $190,000, to franchise any 7-Eleven store in the continental U.S. available at the contest’s culmination, stated the release.

Veterans who are first-time 7-Eleven franchise applicants can enter online through Jan. 25, 2015, reported the release. The winner will be announced in April 2015.

The competition includes meeting 7-Eleven’s franchising qualifications, interviews, a Facebook video contest by 10 preliminary finalists and an interview with 7-Eleven President and CEO Joe DePinto for the three finalists, explained the release.

DePinto is a graduate of the Military Academy at West Point and a former U.S. Army officer. “7-Eleven is a winner, too, because veterans bring top-notch leadership skills, a can-do attitude and mission-oriented focus to their business,” shared De Pinto in the release. “Our experience has shown that U.S. veterans have the desire, ambition and core values needed to be successful 7-Eleven franchisees.”

Contestants must be 21 years of age or older and have at least three years of leadership, retail or restaurant experience, among other qualifications, noted the release.
