ANOKA, Minn. — Round Lake Commons LLC, developer of a new carwash, will receive a loan from the city council to assist with sewer access charges, according to abcnewspapers.com.
The council unanimously agreed to the $94,495 loan, which it has also done for five other expanding businesses in the city, said the article.
“That’s a lot of money and that has to be paid up front along with all the other costs to get a project in the ground,” said council member Jeff Weaver of the sewer access charges, in the article, “If you can defer that out, get your project up and running and have a revenue stream and be able to pay it off it’s much easier to absorb that type of burden.”
Businesses can also apply for grants to cover those fees. Round Lake had done so, but the council decided to give the business a loan instead, noted the article.
In the article, the project developer, Brand Dunham, said the new business is trying to use energy efficient equipment.
The plans for the carwash were approved in 2013, and the council granted an extension on the site plan earlier this year, stated the article.
