NORFOLK, Va. — Carwash owners say someone has broken into several of their businesses over the same weekend, damaging property and stealing money. Two of them have joined together to offer a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest, according to WAVY.
In the release, Green Clean Auto Wash owner Shaun Everett said four of his locations were broken into and vandalized on the same day (one in the early morning hours, and three in the evening).
Everett found that someone had used a tool to destroy and pry off the meter box, and then he or she had stolen the money inside. He said the suspect isn’t getting much cash, but repairing the damage will not be cheap, stated the article.
“…There’s enough challenges out there without having someone come in and violently beat a door up to get a few dollars,” said Everett in the article.
Solar Wash owner Barry Little came into work one morning to find three of his meter boxes and a vending machine destroyed. He says there is probably $13,000 worth of damage, and the suspects probably made away with $5, continued the article.
The article said the owner of Clean Wave Car Wash says his business was vandalized as well for the third time in a month.
Everett has the suspect on surveillance footage from one of his locations. Police are investigating the case, noted the article.
