ANOKA, MN — This city has approved rezoning plans to allow for a carwash to go up in an area that was once only zoned for offices, ABC Newspapers.org reported.
The June 20 story said the city's decision was met with controversy as neighbors do not want a carwash in their neighborhood.
“I’m very disappointed,” said neighbor Pat Peterson. “That’s really going to affect my home’s value and the enjoyment of my home. …I would rather see something like small retail or offices.”
The carwash will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. According to the story, plans call for a 4,025 square-foot carwash building and a 2,100 square-foot retail building.
Property owner Brad Dunham said he has conducted a well-researched sound study and has worked with the architects involved to make sure the sound coming from the carwash is buffered.
Planned multi-profit center amends plans
Dunham will use trees and fences as well as the design of the building, to help block the noise coming from the vacuum cleaners and the dryers.
“I have been listening to the neighbors and I am here to be a good neighbor,” Dunham said in the story.
