AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler Group is recalling about 792,300 sports utility vehicles because of an issue that could cause unintended acceleration, according to 4wheelsnews.com and a press release by Chrysler.
Certain 2014 Dodge Durangos, Jeep Cherokees, Grand Cherokees and Grand Cherokee SRTS could accelerate about for around two seconds after the accelerator pedal is released while in cruise control mode, stated the article on 4wheelsnews.com.
The models affected were assembled between Jan. 16 and April 17, 2014, said the article.
In a press release, Chrysler said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem. Vehicles implicated are in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and other countries.
The company also recalled nearly 870,000 vehicles in April to repair brake systems, noted 4wheelsnews.com.
In 2012 six consumers complained about airbags deploying inadvertently. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating.
