WAYNE, NJ — A carwash owner and his family are holding a fundraising drive to help an injured police officer, WaynePatch reported.
The Jan. 7 story stated that Lincoln-Wayne Car Wash will donate 20 percent of gift card sales worth $25 or more to Bob Franco. Franco, a Wayne police officer, was seriously injured during Hurricane Sandy.
Multi-profit center helps out hurricane victims
A tree fell on Franco’s car during the storm. At first, he needed a lot of assistance to get around, but he has been “steadily recovering” since the accident.
Kevin Hughes, a Wayne Valley High School student, is heading up the fundraiser. Hughes ran his own fundraiser to help Franco last month selling candy canes to teachers and students at the high school. More than $1,000 was raised.
PA carwash has gas lines after hurricane
When the carwash owners heard about Hughes raising money, they contacted him and let him know they wanted to help. The carwash promotion will be held until the end of January.
