NILES, MI — A man who broke into coin boxes at two carwashes here is going to prison, according to the South Bend Tribune.
The Nov. 19 story stated that Bryan Lee Garland, 34, pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of personal property over $1,000 and under $20,000 and possession of burglary tools.
Six years in prison for driver in carwash crash
Garland was sentenced in Berrien County Trial Court to two concurrent 18-month prison terms. He received the minimum sentence for each crime. In addition, he must pay $2,316 dollars in fines and restitution that will be determined later.
According to a Berrien County Sheriff’s Department press release, Garland and another suspect broke into the two carwashes on Oct. 20. Police interrupted the second break-in, and Garland was arrested when a police dog tracked him.

Garland is currently on parole in Indiana, and the two new prison terms in Michigan will be served consecutively to any prison term due to the parole violation.
