KANSAS CITY, MO — U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver said his financially-troubled carwash had been sold while appearing on a radio show, but his adviser said the sale is still “pending,” The Kansas City Star reported.

The Oct. 9 story stated that, despite Cleaver’s statement to the contrary, the sale of the controversial Grandview carwash still has not been finalized. Jackson County records showed no sale of the carwash earlier this week, and court orders did not reflect any changes in the lawsuit over the carwash.

Any sale of the carwash would require an agreement with lender, Bank of America, plus discussions with the Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA guaranteed 75 percent of the loan in 2002.
