DARWEN, ENGLAND — Plans for a new carwash here are threatened by local council members, the Lancashire Telegraph reported.
The Sept. 25 story stated that Lookman Patel, a local developer, has proposed plans for a new carwash at the corner of Whitehall Street and Cemetery Road in Darwen. But councilors have met this proposal with opposition, saying a new wash would cause damage and problems with drainage and traffic.
The new wash would create one full-time and one part-time job and would be in operation seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Councilors David and Karimeh Foster also stated that since the new wash would be close to residents, parking will become congested.
The developers responded by assuring that all drainage issues will be dealt beforehand, and all traffic will be directed by employees.
