ALEXANDRAI, Va. — In Store, the grassroots initiative created by the Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing (NACS), has put congress members in c-stores across the country more than a dozen times already this year, according to the organization’s website.
In Store, which NACS began in 2014, provides a fully immersive convenience store experience for congress members, the article explained, with retailers tailoring their lessons individually to showcase issues they feel are most important, such as card fees, data security, etc.
“The goal of the program is to better educate legislators about the issues affecting the convenience and fuel retailing industry by going beyond just a store tour,” NACS said in the article. “Members of Congress are given a hands-on learning experience that includes We Card and employee training, working behind the register, assisting with food prep and even restocking shelves.”
“We are honored to have had Congresswoman [Susan] Brooks visit our store as part of the NACS In Store Program,” Jay Ricker, founder and chairman of Ricker’s Convenience Stores, shared in the article. “I believe that this experience will truly help to better connect the convenience and fuel retailing industry with Congress.”
According the the article, this year In Store events have occurred in New Hampshire, Vermont, California, Nevada, Ohio and Indiana with more to come.
