WILMINGTON, N.C. — Scott Baker, a real estate investor of Carolina Shores Properties LLC, plans to build a carwash on land he purchased in the commercial area of Waterford of the Carolinas, according to WilmingtonBiz.
Construction for the new 5,000-square-foot express exterior carwash is projected to start within the next few weeks, stated the article.
Exum Holdings LLC sold the 2.05-acre site to Baker’s company in November for $850,000, reported the article, and Bert Exum is the developer of Waterford of the Carolinas, which is “a 575-acre master planned development.”
Baker stated that he chose this location for his new tunnel carwash because it is a high-traffic zone, added the article.
“The area seemed to be underserved in this market, and it just seemed to make sense for what we’re trying to do for our vision,” said Baker in the article.
This will be the first carwash for Baker, continued the article, but his family operates a car dealership located in Christiansburg, Virginia.
“I started a real estate holding company in Wilmington about two years ago, and so my real estate holding company is what brought me back to the area. I actually live in Waterford as well,” stated Baker in the article. “I saw some things that were not in the town that would be quite helpful to people in the town, so a carwash was one of the first things we jumped on.”
The new carwash will also feature a 35-foot tower for offices as well as over 20 vacuums, noted the article, and Baker hopes to hire around six to eight employees to start.
The carwash is projected to launch by next May, added the article.
