Carwash owner uses carwash as drug-trafficking front

DAYTONA, Fla. — Police arrested the owner and shut down the business.

DAYTONA, Fla. — According www.news-journalonline.com, when police searched the inside of Pooh Bear’s Car Wash, they found drugs, guns and a poker table instead of the expected cash register and car-cleaning supplies.

Officers arrested Owner Kevin “Pooh Bear” Stokes on charges of possession of a structure for trafficking and/or sale of controlled substances; in addition, they shut down the carwash, the article continued.

“We’ve been trying to arrest him on numerous narcotics arrests,” said Daytona Beach Capt. Byron Williams during a public police meeting Thursday. “We think we now have a strong case where we think he’ll be prosecuted.”

In the past, Williams has called the carwash a “plague” on the community, the article noted.

“It has attracted a lot of drug dealers and violent offenders,” he said.

Police have conducted two searches with warrants at the carwash: one on Mar. 8th and the other on June 2nd, the article noted.

Although Stokes was not at the scene in March, officers found cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, heroin, pills, digital scales, a handgun and ammunition, the article noted.

In the most recent search, officers found more such contraband, and Stokes was present this time, the article added.

Between the two searches, the police arrested a total of 28 people, 26 of whom has previous drug arrests, the article noted.

Stokes cooperated with the police during the investigation, saying that he knowingly owns a business in which people sell narcotics and did use drugs on the site, the article stated.

Williams said, “He told us, ‘I’m not mad at ya’all. You’re just doing your jobs.’ He said, ‘I’m mad at everyone who put me in this position.’”
