NEW YORK CITY, NY — Workers at two Bronx carwashes walked off the job last Saturday, claiming their employer retaliated against them after they voted to join a union.
CBS New York reports that the walk-offs occurred at the Webster Carwash and the WCA Car Wash, also known as the Rico Pobre Car Wash.
Workers claim that they have been subjected to “ongoing harassment” since voting to join a union in July and that management has not responded to calls for better safety conditions, the CBS story indicated, citing a news release.
Both carwashes are owned by John Lage, who at the center of the labor fight in the City.
