WAUKEE, Iowa — Waukee Auto Wash began in a town of 2,500 in 1990. Now with more than 14,000 people living in the town, the carwash has seen its business and community grow, according to the Des Moines Register.
Brodie Belsford is general manager of the company, which includes two locations. His family’s occupation is primarily farming, and they opened the carwash when the farm economy took a downturn, said the article.
Belsford said customers come from Waukee and neighboring communities. The wash has six bays, plus two touch-free automatic washes, five vacuums and a shampooer, noted the article.
Belsford says his wash has a few features that draw customers in from other areas.
Credit cards are accepted in the self-serve bays. The self-serve bays also have doors. When the doors are pulled down in the winter months, the bays are heated, the article explained.
Belsford says his customers like that an attendant is always on-hand to maintain the clean facility. “…We have an attendant on hand part-time to help out customers when they have questions and to constantly clean the bays, pick up trash, make sure everything is in working order.”
