Hand wash appeal approved following several rejections

FAVERSHAM, England — The carwash first opened in March 2012.

FAVERSHAM, England — Over the past three years, Michael White, site owner, has faced several rejections for his carwash proposal at Standard Quay in Faversham, according to KentOnline.

Despite a recommendation for approval from planning officers of the Swale Borough Council, the article stated, White’s plans were rejected in his previous application this past July by councilors on the planning committee.

However, White recently appealed the decision and his hand wash proposal was approved, reported the article.

The document for appeal lists the main concerns for the carwash as the effect of “on the living conditions of surrounding residents and whether it would preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the Faversham Conservation Area, including the setting of nearby listed buildings,” continued the article.

However the report noted that these potential issues would not occur because the carwash would be inside the facility, added the article.

“The doors at either end would be weighted to ensure that the interior is sealed and they would be shut when rinsing takes place,” asserts the report, as reported in the article. “This would be done by lance spray equipment and cars would also be cleaned by handheld sponges.”

Concerns over noise level were also raised, the article stated, however, the report explained that having the wash services indoors should help to address these potential problems.

The carwash first opened in March 2012, noted the article.

“There’s quite a few of us who are really pleased to see that it’ll be opening again,” said Peter Johnson, a regular customer before the location closed, in the article. “It’s a great service and they’re great people. I’ll certainly be returning when they’re back up and running.”
