MORGANTON, N.C. — The new Veterans Auto Salon was begun by a retired military serviceman who wants to help disabled veterans get more support in his community, according to the News Herald.
Owner Vincent M. Young served for 10 years in Korea, Germany and Fort Knox as a light-wheel mechanic before retiring because of health concerns, said the article.
“Wanting to have my own shop came from being a veteran,” he stated in the article. “If I was going to go to work, I wanted to help the veterans and wounded warriors who can’t help themselves.”

Young offers a discount for veterans, seniors and law enforcement officers, noted the article.
His services include an exterior wash and dry, wash and wax, interior cleaning, carpets, glass, dashboard and vinyl and a premium clean, explained the article.
Young hopes to see his town provide more support for homeless veterans, who make up 23 percent of the homeless population in Burke County, reported the article. He wants the town to have a homeless shelter for veterans.
